An example, not a real business

The three little websites

Straw, sticks or brick?

Most small business websites are built from one of three things. Only one of them is still standing when the wind picks up.

Straw

The free template

Up in an afternoon and looks like everyone else's. It's slow on phones, and the monthly price keeps creeping up.

Blows over

Sticks

The plugin pile

A theme, a dozen plugins and a login nobody remembers. It stands until the next update knocks something loose.

Wobbles, then falls

Brick

Huffman Design

Hand-built pages on Cloudflare's network. Your domain, your files, no plugins to update and nothing to fall over.

Still standing

Go ahead. Try to blow them down.

Work

First up: Hickory's 1934 movie house.

A redesigned Carolina Theater homepage: a lit marquee reading Street Fighter and Flywheel, $5 before 6pm, with buttons for today's showtimes and birthday parties.

Carolina Theater · Downtown Hickory

Two screens, rocking-chair seats, and a website that finally matches.

The Carolina Theater opened on Christmas Eve, 1934, and still shows new movies for $5 before 6pm. We redesigned its site to feel like walking under the marquee.

  • A lit marquee with what's showing tonight
  • Tap a showtime to text it to a friend or add it to a calendar
  • A birthday party planner that adds up the cost as you go
  • An ad builder that shows your business on the big screen

A redesign we made on our own to show the theater what's possible. It isn't their live site.

How it works

You see it before you pay for it.

No forty-page proposal and no deposit. We do the work first, so you can judge the real thing.

  1. We look

We go through your current site page by page and send you a list of what to fix, whoever ends up fixing it.

  2. We build a preview

Your new site, with your words, photos and phone numbers, at a private link you can open on your phone.

  3. You say yes

We move it to your domain. Every old page address keeps working, so you keep your spot on Google.

  4. It's yours

Your domain, your files, and someone to call when you want a change.

What you get

Small, sturdy, and quick.

Under 1 second

Fast everywhere

Plain, light pages served from Cloudflare's network, close to whoever is visiting.

Thumb-sized

Made for phones

Most of your visitors are on one. Hours, directions and a tap-to-call button come first.

No lock-in

You own it

Your domain stays in your name, and the site is files you can take anywhere.

Google-ready

Easy to find

Real page titles, your business details in the format Google reads, and no broken links.

0 plugins

Nothing to update

No admin login to get hacked and no plugin updates that break the page.
